It can be challenging to know where to start if you’re looking to rejuvenate your skin and freshen up your look. There are many different procedures available, so it helps to focus first on simple, non-invasive treatments that will quickly get you the results you’re looking for.

Keep reading to learn about three ways to reduce your fine lines and wrinkles and regain your confidence!

Botox Injections

Botox comes from Clostridium botulinum, a bacteria that produces botulinum toxin, which is a neurotoxin that disrupts the nerve signaling process.

Due to this, Botox injections are commonly used to reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles because it blocks the facial muscles in the injection area from contracting.

What Types of Wrinkles Does Botox Treat?

You can have two types of facial wrinkles: static and dynamic. Static wrinkles are due to a loss of collagen and volume in your skin, usually due to aging.

On the other hand, dynamic wrinkles are due to muscle contractions from facial movements. Since Botox prevents your facial muscles from contracting, it’s best for treating dynamic wrinkles in areas of your face, such as:

  • Wrinkles between your eyebrows
  • Wrinkles around your eyes called crow’s feet
  • Creases on your forehead
  • Small wrinkles at the corners of your mouth
  • Wrinkles around your chin

Botox Injection Procedure

For Botox injections, your doctor will use thin needles to inject Botox directly into your skin and muscles. You’ll feel minimal pain during the injection, and the entire procedure takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how many areas you need to treat.

What to Expect After Botox

You’ll need to sit upright for at least four hours after the procedure and avoid rubbing the injection site for at least 24 hours.

It’s possible to start seeing results within 24 hours, but it will typically take 3 to 5 days to notice a difference in the appearance of your wrinkles. Within two weeks, you’ll see the full effects of your Botox treatment.

Botox lasts from 3 to 6 months, and you’ll need to continue getting treatments to prevent your wrinkles from returning.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers contain substances that are injected under your skin’s surface to give you more volume and add fullness to your skin. Dermal fillers contain substances such as:

  • Hyaluronic acid comes from tissues and joint fluids in your body
  • Calcium hydroxyapatite is a mineral compound found in your bones
  • Polylactic acid comes from corn starch or sugar cane

What Types of Wrinkles Do Dermal Fillers Treat?

Dermal fillers are best to treat static wrinkles since they’re from a lack of volume in your skin. Fillers also work best for situations such as:

  • Adding volume to your lips
  • Adding volume to thin areas on your face
  • Softening the look of scars
  • Adding volume under your eyes

Juvederm Fillers

One of the most popular filler treatments available is Juvederm which contains hyaluronic acid. You can get different types of Juvederm fillers depending on the areas you want to target.

You can get Juvederm Voluma XC which adds volume to increase the size of your cheeks, Juvederm Vollure for wrinkles and lines around your mouth and nose, or Juvederm Volbella to add fullness to your lips.

Dermal Filler Procedure

First, your doctor will typically mark the areas on your face you want to target for treatment. Next, they’ll inject the filler into the targeted areas and give it a light massage to evenly distribute the filler.

You’ll feel minimal pain during the procedure as most fillers like Juvederm contain a small amount of lidocaine which minimizes any discomfort you might feel during the treatment. The entire filler procedure can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes.

What to Expect After Dermal Fillers

You’ll need to avoid wearing makeup, sun exposure, and strenuous activity for at least 24 hours after your treatment. The results from fillers like Juvederm last between six months and two years, depending on the type of filler you use.

MORPHEUS 8

MORPHEUS 8 is a microneedling radiofrequency treatment that uses both tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate your skin.

Tiny needles stimulate the growth of new healthy skin by creating small micro-wounds in your skin. This triggers your body to grow new collagen and elastin, and the radiofrequency enhances the effects of microneedling.

What Wrinkles and Skin Conditions Can MORPHEUS 8 Treat?

MORPHEUS 8 tightens and smooths skin and decreases the appearance of wrinkles and lines on your face, neck, back, abdomen and arms. It’s most often used to treat problems like:

  • Acne scars
  • Sun damage
  • Lines and creases
  • Loose or sagging skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Sagging jowls

MORPHEUS 8 Procedure

You’ll first have numbing cream applied to the treatment areas about an hour before the procedure to reduce any discomfort.

Using an applicator, your treatment provider will make between 1 to 3 passes over the targeted areas, allowing tiny needles to penetrate your skin tissues.

The entire treatment takes between 10 and 30 minutes, and you will need 3-4 treatments to achieve the results you’re looking for.

What to Expect After MORPHEUS 8

After the procedure, your provider will give you instructions on proper skin care at home. You’ll first need to apply icepacks to reduce any swelling and pain. Other skincare instructions typically include:

  • Wear sunscreen daily for up to a month after treatment
  • Use a gentle cleanser
  • Avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 hours

You’ll usually see results between 3 to 6 months, and once all your treatments are complete, the results will last for at least a year.  A yearly maintenance treatment is recommended.
