Your Recovery Process
Healing from facelift surgery is a process that varies by individual, but most patients resume normal activities within 2–3 weeks. Here’s a general timeline:
The Day Of:
Expect swelling, bruising, and tightness. You’ll return home the same day with bandages and post-op instructions.
After Your Procedure:
Discomfort is usually manageable with prescribed medication. Swelling subsides gradually, and most people return to work after 10–14 days.
Facelift recovery
Avoid any activities that will raise your heart rate or blood pressure for 2 weeks. You will have stitches that are removed at your 7 or 14 day follow-up. You will have a drain and depending on the type of surgery needed, this can be in for a few days to a week depending on how much fluid is produced. Keep chin strap on for 23 hours a day for the first week. After your one week post-op, you will need to wear it 12-16 hours a day for 4 weeks.
Final Results:
Like all surgeries, it can take time to see your final results. Everyone will be different. Final results may not be seen for 3 months to a year, depending on what areas of the face were focused on for surgery.
